TCST at Y Nationals

The YMCA of Auburn-Lewiston is proud to announce outstanding performances at the Y National Long Course Swimming Championship by our Twin Cities Swim Team, held at FAST (Florida Aquatic Swimming and Training) from July 30 to August 3.

Among the 694 swimmers representing 82 YMCAs from 18 states, TCST’s Caden LaPlante and Gabrielle Williamson shone brightly. Both swimmers qualified for finals in their respective events, setting new Maine state records in the process.

LaPlante dominated the pool, capturing 5 state records across 50 Meter Butterfly (26.77), 100 Meter Butterfly (1:01.33), 50 Meter Freestyle (26.75), 200 Meter Individual Medley (2:30.91), and 50 Meter Backstroke (29.61). His exceptional performance led to a 32nd place finish overall in the 50 Meter Butterfly.

Williamson also made history, breaking the Maine state record in the 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of 27.59. She secured a commendable 24th place overall in the event.

Chase Leonardo, another TCST standout, narrowly missed the finals but still made a splash, placing 37th overall in the 50 Meter Breaststroke and breaking the team record he set last summer with a time of 31.22 seconds.

The YMCA National Swim Meet is the culminating event of the long course swimming season, bringing together top young swimmers from across the country. The YMCA of Auburn-Lewiston is honored to have been represented by such talented athletes.
