Military Outreach Initiative
The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA is
registered as a participating YMCA in the Armed Forces, YMCA, and Department of Defense Outreach Initiative. The Outreach Initiative will provide $31 million in government funding for families and individuals to receive memberships at full-facility YMCA's in their community lasting up to 12 or 18 months depending on eligibility.
A family/individual must be an eligible:
- Family member of deployed Army National Guard or Reservist from any military branch
- Independent Duty Personnel (Active Duty) and their families as approved by the Military Service Headquarters
Eligible individuals/families may sign up for six-month intervals. The costs are as follows:
- 6 month family basic $90
- 6 month adult fitness $210
- 6 month family fitness $240
The individual/family pays nothing. This is what is billed to the Department of Defense/YMCA Armed
Services
In order for the individual/families to be eligible to renew for another six months, they must visit the YMCA at a minimum of 8 times per month. This DOES NOT include programs such as swimming lessons or youth sports. They are responsible for these costs at the reduced member rate.

- Independent Duty Personnel (Active Duty)
- Title 10 Eligibility Form
- POC (Point of Contact) Approval Letter signed by one of the following individuals, J. Kelly Powell (Navy), Davis
Murphy (Marine Forces Reserve), Gilbert Machias ( Marine Corps Recruiting
Command), Catherine Ficadenti (All other
Marine Corps Personnel), Carole Kowta (Army), Dorie Kelly Hickson (Army), Donald Cook (Air Force)
- Military ID Card
- Family Member of Deployed Guard/Reserve
- Title 10 Eligibility Form, if they don't have one, we have copies
- Military ID Card, their's, not their deployed spouses
- Spouse's Deployment Papers
