Giving Back to the Y

Social Responsibility: Giving back and providing support to our neighbors. It’s one of our three focus areas at the Y.

How do you place a dollar amount on caring, honesty, respect and responsibility? What is it worth to keep a child safe, to provide a role model for teens or create and maintain a healthy lifestyle? The answer: it's priceless.

The Auburn/Lewiston YMCA’s founding leaders have provided comprehensive programs and services to meet the diverse needs of our community today.

Our Y programs span the generations to build individuals with healthy spirits, minds and bodies. From swim classes and health programs to senior activities and community outreach programs for those in need, the Auburn/Lewiston YMCA provides the resources that our community needs in a local community center.

We help to build strong kids, strong families and strong communities through quality programs and services with assistance from volunteers, staff, community partners, and the financial investment provided by individuals, businesses and private grants.

Last year, our Y provided financial assistance to 768 youth and families in the amount of $44,450. Our financial assistance programs ensure that everyone is welcome at the YMCA.

We are the largest provider of childcare and after school care in our community, serving nearly 60 children every day.

Annually, over 500 volunteers support our mission of developing healthy spirits, minds and bodies. We are proud to thank these volunteers who support our programs and services, by contributing countless hours, coaching, teaching classes, leading programs, organizing special events and serving on committees.
