CAMP CONNOR

Dear Parent/Guardian,

My name is Chris Reed and I am the new Sports/Camp Director at the Auburn/Lewiston YMCA. I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself.

I am a graduate of Edward Little High School. I played baseball at the University of Southern Maine and Central Connecticut St. University. I hold a B.A. in Organizational Management with a minor in Sports and Recreation Management. I have many years of combined coaching and education experience which I will draw on for camp this summer. I recently received my Camp Director certification through the YMCA conference in Worcester, Massachusetts. Joining me as Certified Directors are: Sara Thistle (Assistant Camp Director), Dave Tirabassi (Programming Director) and Joline Dubuc (Waterfront Director).

I am enthusiastically anticipating a great summer at Camp Connor and embrace the opportunity to lead the effort to create a summer’s worth of fun, adventure and memories for your children. I am equally enthusiastic in regards to my management staff and counselors and their abilities and initiative. We have a well-prepared and creative agenda planned for the summer of 2012. We are extremely confident that we will provide your children an experience that will leave them wanting more as we build on the proud tradition that has developed over decades.

Understanding how important your children are to you and the importance of finding comfort in their care, I will operate with an open door policy. I have also attached a Camp Behavior contract that will detail the expectations the YMCA adheres to in making every effort to provide a safe a nurturing environment for your children. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any concerns or questions you may have.

We invite you to join us on the following dates:

Camp Clean-Up Day: May 19, 2012 9am-12pm. Clean-up day is an opportunity to reinforce the concepts of volunteerism and community service to your children while taking a bit of ownership of your camp experience. As an expression of our gratitude will be hosting a free cookout at 12pm for our volunteers. Please contact me if you are planning to attend.

Open House/ Meet the Staff: June 9, 2012 10am- 1pm. This is an opportunity to tour the facilities prior to opening as well as meet the staff who will be leading your children.

I look forward to meeting you all and appreciate the opportunity to provide your children a summer to remember. Take care.

Respectfully-

Chris Reed
